what is your opinion on the Bendigo mosque?
Personally I'm all for it, and I'm extremely irritated by the people against it who have completely unjustified reasons to be against it. 2% of Australia's population are Muslim. Those who are expecting masses of people to be flocking to the Mosque are whining for the sake of nothing. I'll also mention the fact that Bendigo has an entire building dedicated to Chinese culture, built after the Chinese came here long ago. A short drive outside town and the Atisha Centre's Great Stupa of Universal Compassion can be seen being built to cater to Buddhists. But no, no arguments with that because Buddhism is a peaceful religion and Islam is suddenly a huge dangerous cause. Complaints about noise are utterly ridiculous. West of the Stupa is where monks are housed. A bell is rung every evening there, and can be heard all the way to Strathdale; the other side of town. No complaints there. Seriously, arguments are getting far out of hand and statistics are being bent far out of proportion. It's a disappointing time for the town.
