I don't actually eat too much cambo food, but yeah, I probably know some. What type of food?
I was surprised as well lmao, since when did Flannery ever win anything.
I didn't go to killester so idk.
But I know one thing for sure: killester's formals are BETTER than jmss formals.
ofc, my fav subject ever!!
Yeah bc I don't really like bio, idk why I'm doing it tbh
hello, 'I'm still alive but I'm barely breathing'
Cambo and i think thailand, but definitely been to cambo
Chem bc physics is defs not of my interest/forte
kinda but not rly, everyone thinks I'm pretty quiet but I'm actually not as quiet as they think i am, at times
depends on what i have in period 2&3, but usually, yes, because the lessons are so boring it feels like it's taking forever
:)
Are you sure you're not just imagining things??
Jks, yes it is, but I'm more cambo
it won't even lmao
yes no maybe no maybe yes maybe no
BUT HOW ARE YOU GUESSING "SPRINGY OR SOMEWHERE AROUND THERE" ?!?!!?!!???
No idea tbh
But azn family stereotype - gotta be a doctor hahaha
I don't read books nowadays lmao
But my childhood favourite would definitely be Geronimo Stilton, I read all of his books at least three times omg
Wbu?
OH HAHAHAHHAHHAHHAHAHAHHA
should really start thinking because detail study is harder to actually formulate than GC
aw, then if you've known me for a long time, why have we only talked only once? Did you know me during jmss, or before that? (If you are the same person) come say hi to me or something at school!
Wait, what are you doing in relation to ds?
Wasn't that originated from the Japanese?
Because your topic has to somewhat be related to China lol
I watch Thai dramas, if that counts HAHHAHAHA
but it was a really good one!! Stayed up just to watch it last night omg
so many things. the list just goes on and on.
But how long is that? D:
Hey Travis!! :)
I'm also just gonna provide some advice for the detail study, as well as the gc :))
Preparation:
--> have you picked a topic for your detail study? If not, pick one RIGHT NOW.
Pick a topic that interests you, not a topic that you would do only because it seems "easy", but not as much interest in it. The more interested you are in your topic, the better chance you'll do better.
Also, try to not pick a mainstream topic (e.g. Pandas). Everyone does those topics, and from the assessor's perspective, it gets really really boring once the orals get repetitive, so it's really difficult to stand out from the rest.
--> start researching, writing up your detail study NOW as well. Our Chinese school starts the detail study very late and in the end we kinda crammed it in (which is the last thing you would want, trust me, it's a total nightmare)
--> do you have 黃老師? Get her to help you if you have any questions, don't be hesitant to ask her. She provides really good feedback. Best teacher I've ever had HAHAHAH
But then again, this applies to any other teacher (if you don't have her), get them to help you as much as they can, if you're stuck.
--> think of as many possible questions as you can relating to GC and detail study (and the aspects that you are studying). Be careful with your answers, as the assessor's may ask questions which link to a part of your answer and you might not have prepared an answer beforehand.
--> for GC, some of the questions you may want to make up an answer (because it's easier if you do or something), but it's a lot easier if you just stay true to all of your answers, because then you remember it better.
--> for detail study, you are allowed to bring in a sheet with images (no words on the images) to assist you, don't forget to bring that, it helps you a lot.
--> make sure at least a few weeks before the actual exam, you know your GC and detail study back to front, inside out. As I said, it's never a good idea to cram. Our school is usually one of the last schools to actually do the oral exam, which gives you that extra bit of time to practice.
Actual exam:
--> get a really good night's rest, starting from a few days the actual day.
--> try your best to avoid being sick. I got a really bad, sore throat the day before, fml.
--> use hand gestures, make eye contact, when you are talking to them
--> keep calm, do not stress at all. 15 minutes goes by very, very fast if you are concentrated on the task and keep talking to them (providing your answers to their questions)
--> do not study on the actual day (just hours or minutes before the exam), it brings you extra, pointless stress.
--> GREET THEM WHEN YOU COME IN THE ROOM, AND DONT FORGET TO SAY BYE OR THANK YOU OR SOMETHING WHEN YOU LEAVE. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.
--> smile :)
I'm not too sure what else to add, but I hope this helps you :) if you have any more questions, feel free to ask me HAHAHAHHA
Also, what topic are you doing/ thinking of doing for detail study?
How long have you known me for / seen me around for?
Yeah sometimes, but barely FML.
Like, if the law library still existed for jmss students (on weekdays during school terms), it would kinda push me and make me force myself go to the library a lot more often, where I can effectively do lots of study.
I don't see the logic and appropriate reasoning in that rule, and a lot of stuff. Doesn't even make sense.
only my mentor group would understand,
but i feel extra 'done' on those days of the week.
nope, i still have no idea who you are. :((
will you ever reveal yourself / give more hints, anonymous person?
Does a triangle count??!?!?! HAHAHHHAHA JKS
I played clarinet for two years at my previous school.
I really wished I could play the piano or guitar though :(
What about you?
yeah true but for me, it's still loud bc...
But yeah, I found the most effective and convenient study place to be the law library, upstairs, back WHEN THAT LIBRARY WASN'T BANNED FROM JMSS STUDENTS, FFS. *cough cough cough* -.-' I actually loved that place so much.
→ the fact that we have classes of up to 50 students and two teachers, I hate that. I prefer single classes like last year, where a majority of them were.
→ open space learning, I dislike that, especially when the other side of the bridge is really noisy. school needs more walls and doors.
→ all of my classes
→ most of the staff
→ Monday and Thursday mornings *cough cough*
→ The vibes - not feeling it.
→ the mindfulness area needs to return back into its original form, where we could exit the school through that pathway
→ the fact that we can't go upstairs until 8:20, not at all during recess and only until halfway through lunchtime. Tbh that rule is really stupid. I don't understand why we can't, especially if we don't have food with us. Why am I stopped and kicked back downstairs if I want to access my locker? What if I need to do something important, what if I wanna make use of time? Smh.
→ there should be more facilities in the school. While I understand that the school has a population of just over 600, therefore there 'wouldn't be any need for more facilities', there is seriously nothing to do at recess and lunch except sit there, downstairs, which ties in with the previous dot point. So boring.
→ that library
→ the building (structure, layout, etc.)
→ stairs, we have too many stairs, my legs get tired in the mornings.
→ (mainly applies to year 10s), the fact that is it compulsory that on a day where we have a sport lesson, we have to change into our sport uniform and back into school uniform after the Pe lesson, especially if a sport lesson is during period 2/3, where it's the most annoying time.
→ the amount of ocd in the fact that we always have to stay formal and "classy". Yes, I do understand that we have to, but not 24/7 every minute, every second of the day.
→ assemblies. Can we have them less frequent please. And can they not go for as long. At least make them a bit more exciting, especially when i have to sit in the void.
→ can everything not be done in houses and mentors. Please.
→ THE CANTEEN.
(1) the line is too long, and progresses very, very slowly
(2) canteen menu needs to up their game, whenever I buy food, I always have to contemplate for a really long time about what I wanna get, because there is nothing, literally.
(3) quality of the canteen food, needs to also up its game, seriously.
(E.g. Dried dim sims, wrinkled hot dogs, bread that breaks off once you hold it up, noodles that have been in liquid for too long that the noodles soak all of the soup which you end up having no soup at all, serving sizes for lasagne, burnt food, etc.)
(4) canteen staff (if you buy food from the canteen, you probably know who I'm talking about). No comment.
(5) too expensive, for such bad quality.
→ there's heaps of other things I would say about this school, but I feel like it might be too savage/ offensive, so I'm not gonna say it here.
You probably think I hardcore dislike this school or something HAHAHHAHA
But I'll tell you, I regretted coming here. It's probably just me.
What about you, is there anything you want changed, or anything additional? What is your opinion on jmss?
What do you mean, as in the future?
I'd rather be married in the future, but that's a long way away.
HAHAHAHAHA heaps of things, heaps. Would you like an extensive list?
we have a library?!?!?!??! what, since when?
HAHHAHA JKS. tbh the place is so tiny and non-existent within the school that there is barely any books in the library, and even if there was, 98% would be non-fiction, scientific books. I used to go there for study period but after a while, I didn't really find it an effective place to study anyway.
I'm kinda indecisive on the fact on whether we should even have a library or not. I mean, if we're gonna have one, might as well have a proper library, but at the same time, no one would go to the library anyways. What is your opinion on the JMSS library and do you think it should exist in JMSS ?
The section about food was answered in the previous question, but I'll talk about the other aspects.
Year 10/11 formal : it's held at brighton international, BUT its not even at the front ballroom, its at the very back in a tiny room. the place every year (that i've been to) is so full that there is not much space to move in. There's not even enough space in there to take proper photos. There also wasn't a lot of seats, so from a girl's perspective, that is not a good thing at all (legs/knees/feet kill, after all that dancing lmao). The dance floor is really small and really packed, I can't dance properly HAHHAHAHHAHHAHA
The only pretty part of the formal there is the bathroom. :)
Year 12 formal: Theres tables, chairs, bigger dance floor (YESSSSSS!!!), places to take nice photos, etc. Oh, and you are also able to bring a guest, bc for year 10/11 formal, its JMSS only, meaning you get to make new friends :) . Overall, it was a much more elegant, fun place with really good vibes, in comparison to the other formal.
Year 10/11 formal was like, finger food (get food whenever you like) but a lot of it didn't suit my tastes, literally only just had drinks there.
Year 12 formal food was a three course meal, so each individual had their own plate with a decent proportion of good food.
HAHAHAH yeah !! dw, you'll be able to go, I'm assuming, next year??
Tbh I don't even know like 80% of the people in my mentor, even though we are in a Tute room, whoops.
But the ones I know:
Year 12: nitya, Vincent, Rashy, Michelle R, jasmine, akshay
Year 11: Avestina, Jessie
Yes. I visit it like once a week nowadays.
No. I've had a bottom locker in year 10&12, and a top locker in year 11
Yeah, I liked the food actually!! If you wanna know specifically what, remind me later to tell you.
This formal was way better. I had so much fun!!!
Year 10/11 is not even a formal, it's more like a social, a crappy one.
By crappy, I mean, interior wasn't great, food wasn't great, there were no tables and seats.
Nah I didn't
I have post formal depression right now, and it's 1:40am, and the formal finished 2hrs 40 mins ago :(
aw damn :/
We're on the same page then HAAHAH
No. I'm not that enthusiastic about stuff like this.
Yeah I can walk and run and stuff normally now HAHAHA
But I wouldn't want to do sprinting anymore, I would rather go for slower, longer distance running. The thing is, I've got to be extremely careful when I'm running, because too much running could trigger pain in my hip - where it hurt last time --> like it did last year (3 years after the incident) in cross country, I didn't go to school the next day.
Stretching more often is the key.
Kinda. I only have one person in my house that I would do house activities with tbh.
What about you, are your friends all in different houses, or are you lucky and are all in the same house?
Yeah, same with my old school, because houses were literally only for sporting purposes.
But then I come here and it's as if 99% (exaggeration here) of the jmss population dedicates their lives to winning everything in houses, like, I do not care.
I don't really understand what they're gonna get out of this anyways, except (maybe) a little bit of fun, but that's all.
no, because it's only 25%, but all hair is lost, forever.
In some things, houses are better (e.g. Sports, teamwork activities, etc.), but I just don't like how EVERYTHING is in houses OR running things in the same mentor groups (e.g. 1&2, 3&4 5&6, 7&8), I sometimes get sick of it, no offence or hate. There needs to be some variation in these groups. I also want it to be mixed because I wanna join my friends lol.
The school is even so hardcore that the walls and lockers are in house colours lmao. But maybe it's just my opinion, because I don't really care about the house spirit and I don't really understand why everyone cares so much.
What about you and your opinion on this? (pls explain as well)
So like, I've been participating in sprint races for 4 consecutive years, and on the 5th year, halfway through my first race (100m), there was like this loud "boom" sound inside of me, and then I started limping towards the end of the race and then I stood there for the results and stuff to go on. As they were telling us to go off the track, I suddenly couldn't move my legs, at all and I was full on panicking. The teachers had to actually carry me off the track lmao. And then I couldn't walk / move my leg for a week. And I couldn't do sports for two months afterwards, *cries*
Idk if you actually wanna know what happened to me, it was quite nasty, in my opinion
I usually do the sprints, but then realised how much of a bad experience it was for me, the last time I sprinted at any athletics event, if you wanna know what happened :( so I don't sprint anymore
I might do the 800m or 1500 this year (for once HAHAHHA) and probably shot put and discus as well.
By now, you probably think that I never participate in anything at school, but I do!!! I do cross country every year and inter school sports, and other stuff hahaha
I WAS JOKING HAHAHAHAHAHA, was just imitating people at this school who are too much into the house spirit, hence the quotation marks :')
Tbh I don't like how the school does everything in houses.
idk
That's okay if you think you're not as great as other people, it's all about improvement, aim high. :)
"EWWWWWWW BLACKBURN !!!" Jokes, I don't care about houses, I have no house spirit HAHHAHAHHAHHAH that was so lame of me.
I'll do more events at athletics!! Are you going to do any?
HAHAHAHHA why were you surprised?
I'm just an incredibly slow swimmer and I'm often too lazy to go in the pool, I only went in at this year's carnival because it's the last year.
That's nice, I'm too lazy to decorate my room, and even if I did, I would take ages because I'm someone who needs everything to be planned, perfect and organised.
Nah you haven't asked that already. Did you see me at the swimming carnival?
It was actually like, the first time I showed any real house spirit and involvement in the school tbh HAHAHAHHAH
And I didn't do actual events, but I jumped in the pool for the "lap for a point" novelty. What about you?
Oh, nice! Must be a beast at tennis, how long have you been playing tennis for?
omg I sometimes go to Chaddy too! But not very often, and the thing is, it's so rare that I actually buy anything from there, there's nothing I wanna buy from there. Not my type of shops (since a lot has closed down as well) HAHAHHA
Decorative stuff, like, art and craft stuff, or more like decorating places such as rooms, tables, etc.?
The main ones are badminton and hockey. They're sports which require a fair bit of running (I run on a quite regular basis) and a great amount of strength to hit something.
I like tae kwon do sometimes, because I was involved in a club in primary, it taught me a lot lol
I also like other sports such as netball and occasional swimming (but I'm too lazy to swim)
Do you play tennis for a club or something, or do you just like playing for fun?
chill
"an excuse to not do homework", i like your thinking behind that HAHAHHAH, I always do that, even though there's like a mountain of homework, whoops.
Where do you like going shopping?
omg that's so cute, you like plush toys awwwwwww
What do you mean by "decorative stuff"?
omg, you must've felt offended when i was dissing subway for the quality of their services in one of the questions the other day, I'm so sorry, HAHAHAAHHAHHAHA
Asian!!! You're probably not the same nationality as me though, because I don't know anyone at this school who is :(
HAHAHAH FOOD, good choice!!
What sort of food do you like?
I like watching tennis, but when it comes to playing, I actually can't HAHAHAHA
That's interesting, because so many guys don't like shopping lol, and tbh I'm not someone who loves shopping so much. why do you like shopping?
And nah I didn't do any sports this term, because they're not the type of sports I specialise in
Yeah true xoxo
I most likely don't see you tho, whoever you are, because I literally don't see anyone anymore
Oh, that's good then, that I don't look as yuck ahahaha
Really?! HmmmMmmMmMmM idk atm actually (which might be a good thing for you HAHHAHAH)
Nah as in, you ask me questions here, I'll answer them, and in my answer, I'll ask you questions back at the same time.
What are your hobbies/ interests?
No idea hahaha but it's fun tho :')
HAHAHAH ARE YOU DS??!?! It's been almost a year since he disappeared from my qooh me tbh
You're the apple to my pie
Aw, man up!!!!!
Aw damn :( just a question though, are you scared that if I find out, that you think it's awks or something?
I wanted to get to know YOU better :( You ask me random questions, and I'll ask you random questions in return? (It won't be specific to who you are, don't worry)
BUT first, can you either answer one of the following questions? (Probably the last question question I'll ask specifically about you) :
1. Which house are you in?
OR
2. Are you in my year level?
(The odds are quite similar, just saying)
Oh, and that means you see me every single day, do you?? Omg so embarrassing, I look like a mess at school :'(
It's not everyday that someone tells you that they wanna get to know you better, so I appreciate that :)
Let's hope I get to know more about you too, whoever you are :))
omg, only once (maybe)?!?! that's a shame, how long have you known me for??? D:
HAHAHAHAH AWWWWWWWWWW, DON'T BE SHY, TALK TO MEEEEEEEEEEEE :)
Do you CURRENTLY go to my school?
Are you someone who sees me around on a regular basis?
No idea who you are tbh, but I know that you're really cool ;)
Can you at least tell me your gender?
And if we are/ were ever close (in person)? If not, why don't you talk to me? :(
Also, what made you interested about my qooh me? (I'm just a bit curious, not in a bad way)
No, but if I was to have a pet, I would choose a fish
Woolworths is closer, but Coles has nicer, more organised shop layout with more products
Therefore Coles > woolworths
I don't eat stuff like thisssssssssssssssssss
Subway has one of the worst services I've ever came across in any situation in my life (every single time I went, at least 6 times)
I only go to hungry jacks if I want a frozen coke HAHAHHA
So my choice would be hungry Jacks, definitely not subway
Depends on what dish, but I would usually prefer either beef or pork rather than lamb & chicken
... no ...
HAHAHAHHA EMBARRASSING BC I TURN 17 NEXT MONTH AND EVERYONE AROUND ME HAS GOT THEIR LEARNERS, EVEN P's
was gonna get it over the summer holidays but was too lazy and I don't wanna drive yet
Because my dreams are really embarrassing to talk about HAHAHAHHAHAHA (everyone has weird dreams at some point, but nah don't wanna say mine)
Does that include unit 1/2 SACs? Cause I never really studied for them last year lmao
In year 10 I did, but not in spesh last year HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA :'(
Let's not talk about that :)
Idk, probably Parkmore or south wharf
Pikachu, I had even had pikachu shirts which I wore like 24/7 when I was younger AHAHAHAHA
If you've ever seen my pencilcase at school (if you even go to my school in the first place), it's basically a summary of all of my favourite colors :')
Navy
Black
Grey
Red (sometimes)
Yes, they're all darker colours, but I don't like those lighter colours such as pink or something
I barely watch any English movies, but I LOVE WALL-E or TITANIC
Be successful in life
