Yep a lot of her students get really good study scores! I did group with 3-4 others but you can do private if you want. Small groups was good since you can discuss more ideas and get new perspectives on essay topics. :)

Part 2: Ahh I was actually going to go to Elizabeth Fear because she's $40 for an hour in a group (cheap compared to others). What have you heard?
I think if you're willing to pay $40, probably an extra $10 for a better English tutor wouldn't hurt! English is one of those subjects that I find is difficult to succeed in (if you don't have a natural knack for writing like me) so getting a good tutor will get you really far. I haven't heard good things about Liz. Apparently she has no time to mark essays and she's missing a lot of the time as she's busy and doing her own stuff so she gets a sub and it's just not great. And she doesn't give out a lot of notes. I bought some second hand English books (written by Liz) off of someone and they're pretty good as a general guide but her teachings, from what I've heard, are average at best. WOULD RECOMMEND JENNY MINTER (http://www.englishworks.com.au/) if you live near Blackburn!! She's really lovely and helpful :).

NOT SURE ABOUT DAVY'S HMM.. I know Jack's methods lectures are REEEEALLY good though. Honestly, I can't imagine it being topped. It gets into your head through repetition and his teaching techniques are hilarious and effective :) With chem, I'm not sure if i was just really bad at chem or what but Jack's chem was average, notes not too bad but probably wouldn't recommend. I think Jack's and Davy's are around the same price, location (ish) and they are run at the exact same time. You can always trial both. Rock up to Jack's one week and Davy's the next. Since Jack doesn't have any lock in contracts or anything. Not sure how the payment for Davy's is.

same question as anon! who are the good tutors that you heard for the typical vce subjects? the ones who churn out good results
Methods --> I really liked Jack in Springvale, he gives out awesome notes if anything! It's never too late to join his classes :) (he also does spesh and chem but idk about spesh. His chem was alright). Heard TSFX is sht for methods. Doctor He maybe?
Bio --> I did TSFX (on Collins street), if Mr MacDonnell still teaches there then omg yes he's amazing!! But like I said earlier, very pricey...
English --> I went to Jenny Minter in Blackburn she gets a lot of her students 50s and marks all your essays for you. I really liked her. about 50-60 dollars an hour. Tutoring sessions held as often as you like but it's not necessary to hold a lot of them since she's really thorough. I didn't go to her that frequently since lack of time but she's great :) Wouldn't recommend TSFX or Elizabeth Fear from what I've heard. I think private tutors are best for English since they can mark your practice essays.
Chem --> hit Carl Wang up as a tutor. He's great!! I went through a lot of private tutors and it was a huge struggle.
Don't really know too much else about tutors but hope that helped! Good luck for your VCE endeavours

Tutors are good but I know a lot of people who did really well without a tutor so they're not essential for success. I did TSFX for bio, wouldn't recommend mainly because it's so expensive and bio is a subject you can self learn. I didn't really get tutored much for any other subject long enough for it to help me. I think it depends on the subject though! If you're struggling, def try out different tutors and see what works best :) Your teachers are the best resource and just pester the sht outta them. They have no choice but to help you ?

Study consistently. If you are unsure about something, madly email the teacher questions and wait for them after class (is what really helped me). Study as if you were studying for the exam. Don't just study what's going to be on the SAC, look at the bigger picture. And don't write notes, they're useless. Absolute waste of time. Do a lot of practice questions. And also, commerical exams are a waste of time imo. NEAP is ridiculously hard for chemistry for no good reason. And write down what the teacher emphasises in class. There's always hints on what will be on the SAC :) so many VCE questions LOL. Also if you are writing notes, reword them in a way so that you will be able to understand it later when you forget. Easy to give tips, hard to put them into action. Hope it helps!

<3 <3 For text response, ask a lot of questions of the prompt and reword the prompt to make it easier to answer. And from that create 3 topic sentences and massively build on that and lots of quotes and evidence (and make sure to explain them, don't just chuck them in there and hope for a 50 in Eng LOL). But anyways I'm not an english god, best to ask Israel herself! I think the best thing you can do is just write lots of practice paragraphs and send it to her! She'll be happy to mark it (eventually).

PRETTY SURE that Israel's class got the most 50s or 40+'s! Cannot confirm but I just remember all my friends I've asked got high 30's and mainly 40s! Imo, the examiners are super super easy markers but I would highly recommend everyone to follow Israel's language analysis advice, it's 100% what examiners are looking for, you don't even need a tutor if you just follow what she says! And macrob is harsh but exam is not too bad. My 50% sac scores got scaled to an A at the end of the year, can you believe it?? HAHA YOU'LL DO GREAT <3 <3 <3 DON'T STRESS :) And tip: do not write creative for context essays because israel will actually slaughter you alive
