- experiment, especially with different brushes and techniques. step out of your comfort zone, and try something new! maybe you’ll find something you like! ^u^ i remember discovering my art style by playing around with procreate’s brushes, & it just develops over time! so don’t feel afraid to experiment every now & again! even if it doesn’t come out the way you want to, at least you tried something new :D
- practice, like a lot. like, a ton. because nobody becomes amazing at something right off the bat! this applies for everything :’) all your favourite artists started with the same struggle you had! do your best to draw everyday, even if they’re just tiny doodles of plants on the back of your maths book — just means you’re one step closer to drawing perfect plants! :D
- inspiration via friends and the art community. i’m not really sure whether this applies to everyone, because some people don’t get inspired off of other people, but i sure do! the art community is huge, with a variety of different, unique and beautiful art styles, and it’s guaranteed there will be something you’ll like! so feel free to be inspired by other artists — if you like the way someone draws a nose, draw it like that! i also recommend watching tutorials, timelapse, speedpaint and generally art related videos since those are quite inspiring too! i dunno i feel as if we all started by referencing something, whether it be a human body; someone’s art; a cartoon etc. refrencing usually helps a person understand how to draw that thing, & to later incorporate it into their style. because referencing does not equal copying! usually seeing art & being surrounded by art motivates me to create something, though try to avoid comparing art, because every art style is good in its own way! & as long as you’re happy with it, why should you care what anyone thinks of it? of course, try to be open minded to constructive criticism, but at the end of the day, it’s your style! so if you like the way it looks now, that’s fine X)

honestly, a mix of both is pretty cool! like a thicker lines could be used as the outline to bring out the thinner lines on the inside, which would be the more detailed and smaller aspects of what you’re drawing. i usually use a thicker line though, since it works with my style more ^^

hi! thank you so much! & honestly i’d say a good way to gain more followers are by:
- following trends! drawings things that are popular at the time eg. marvel, voltron etc. will most likely help you to get your art and your account recognised, since people who are interested in those things will most likely see it on their explore page. this way, you can also meet lots of new people who like the same thing as you! :D of course, you’re never obliged to draw what you don’t want to draw! draw what you want, honestly the popular trend thing can only go so far ^^”
- use hashtags! especially art-related ones like #digitalart #fanart #myart #drawing etc. because they really help people to find you! just make sure you don’t use too many and/or irrelevant ones, because those are just annoying as heck
- give off a good impression! someone’s art could be really amazing, but if they’re straight up rude to their followers i probably wouldn’t follow them tbh, even if their art was godly. being nice in general to your followers, friends & community just honestly feels really good!!
- try to interact with people! comment on posts, direct message them, it’s really good to have friends & mutuals to talk to especially on a social media platform :’D i think my friends are like half the reason why i draw tbh i’m always so inspired & motivated by what they create! there are so many friendly people in the art community, like i’m not even kidding, most of them are really heckin nice. i’m sure they’d appreciate the conversation!
