as someone who has rlly cool ocs,, , how did u Create them and not make all of them I unique? how did u flesh them out and design them? bc ive tried making ocs and it’s Very Difficukt for me
man it was a PROCESS !! back in the day i was super inspired by @mintpeanut bc she would just make new ocs and designs every DAY and i started to get the hang of doing that too ! basically i would make ocs out of EVERYTHING ! which is how i came up with so many designs ! things like cute perfume bottles, certain outfits, and sometimes even a quote would inspire a character. once i became bored of it i decided i would take some of those ocs i made and give them a story, i kinda use tropes i like, things that inspire me, and themes that i find compelling to make the basic plot/story, and develop the characters to futher develop the story ! the main thing is to know what you want and get REALLY invested in your characters. ive been at this for about a year i think ? Hidden Shrine has been officially in the works for a year now i think its payed off :,) fleshing them out is so fun i kinda just try to correlate everything to an oc ! think like, which oc would do this, or how would this oc react to this, and so on ! i find that watching comedy sitcoms like parks and rec and brooklyn 99 are really helpful if youre looking for a comedic approach, and if not i go to cartoons or anime ! its kinda why i watch so much of it ! and its kind of why im compelled to different types of shows because i love ANYTHING with character development uwu,, i hope this helps !! and thank you so much :,) im so glad you like my ocs ive invested so much in them ???

Ah I'm the person who only got part 2 posted!! What I had asked was, for traditional art do you take pics w/ ur phone camera or an actual camera and if you edit your pics, how do you do it??
THANK YOU ok so yes ! i take pics with my phone camera and i edit the picture with insta filters ! i usually boost up shadows, saturation and sometimes brightness depending on how badly the lighting was when i took the picture ,, i also sharpen the picture so the details can be seen better ! i literally got an iphone 8 plus just so i could take nicer pictures too,, idk what typa phone you have but filters and apps do wonders for art ! its kinda just a matter of what works for you !!

As an art critique, I think you should use different mouths, mostly your characters either smile with teeth, a straight line, or a UwU mouth

i motivate myself usually by drawing stuff i like or making ocs ! if im stumped i either make fanart, or take something random and try to make an oc out of it !! for artblock though i practice stuff im not good at ! that way im not dissapointed if it looks bad bc its whats to be expected ! i do it just to get in more practice in most cases its really helpful especially once im out of artblock !
