I usually don't understand why people get really emotional when saying farewell to someone leaving for a long time or seeing someone they hadn't seen in a long time. They thought I wasn't happy to see them after a year. I was but I don't have to be sobbing.
Full confession mode here. I'm the same. I just don't show much affection apparently. If I haven't seen someone in a long time and I see them again one day of course I'm happy and probably excited and moved and all that, I just won't be very outward about it. My mum even accused me of being heartless lol. I think people just become very overjoyed when seeing someone they miss and some people are just more outwardly emotional.

well the worth of a life really can't be measure with a monetary value. Even if we did assign a monetary value it would be subjective and situational. In your scenario that you have provided, one must first think of the psych of the attacking side. In a situation described above, the person has a gun aimed at your face, which would suggest that he/she does not want to outright kill you, if he/she wanted to kill you in the first place he/she would do so immediately, as that would result in a cleaner process where the victim has no time to call for help or defend themselves. The simple fact that they didn't outright murder you signifies that your life at that point was worth more than anything. This is because at that point, the assailant has no idea what you possess, you may possess the most valuable item in existence for all he/she knows, which means at that point your life would be literally priceless. If, once you presented a measly sum of a dollar or two, the assailant decides to murder you, then the assailant would be the determinant of your life's value and it would be less than the sum you presented, as he/she would think that your life is worthless. However, a scenario where one points a gun at someone to take their money then kill them is highly unlikely, as the terrorisation serves no other purpose other than to terrorise, which complicates matters as the victim could potentially attack the assailant. In conclusion, you to calculate the cost of one's life one must take into account of the mindset and the actions of the determinant I wrote less than this for my english essays
